On 27th October 2012, on the initiative of the Roman-Germanic Commission of the German Archaeological Institute (RGK) and the Archaeological Institute of the Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main the ceremony (Festakt) to honor Polish series "Monumenta Archaeologica Barbarica" (MAB), its founders, as well as authors, editors and translators took place.
There were several persons speaking, such as Professor Svend Hansen, director of the RGK, Mrs. Hanna Gąsowska-Kröhnert from the Polish Consulate in Cologne, Professor Claus von Carnap-Bornheim – Director of the Museum Schloss Gottorf in Schleswig, Professor Wojciech Nowakowski – director of the Institute of Archaeology, University of Warsaw and Professor Michael Meyer of the University of Berlin. The ceremony was attended by 18 guests from the Poland, including project contractor MPOV: Professor Madalena Mączyńska, Professor Bursche and Professor Jan Schuster.
The materials from excavations are usually published in German, rarely in English and are always assigned to editor standard of the series Monumenta Archeologica Barbarica. The monographs concern first of all the sites (cemeteries and settlements) from Roman Iron Age and Migration Period. MAB is well known and popular throughout the whole Europe within academic circles.
It was the first time the German colleagues appreciated a team of Polish archaeologists work in such a formal way.
