Workshop in Lund, 26-28 November 2015

The workshop held on 26-28 November 2015 in Lund (Sweden) was dedicated to the well known Migration Period deposit from Sösdala in Scania. Attended by twelve participants, the workshop had been organized by dr Charlotte Fabech and prof. Ulf Näsman who are currently preparing the first comprehensive publication of this important find complete with several case studies contributed by invited guest researchers. Issues discussed during the workshop included the interpretation of the Sösdala assemblage, its chronology, the findings from the study of the execution techniques used in making the objects in the deposit. A broad comparative background for the materials from Sösdala was provided by sources from Central and East Europe, and provincial Roman references as well. MPOV Project Team member A. Bitner-Wróblewska, next to making a comparative analysis of the chronology of the Sösdala horizon and the chronology of the Sösdala style and the eponymous deposit, presented an brief review of the most recent results of the Migration Period between Odra and Vistula Project, in particular, of findings made in central Poland which have significantly altered our perception of the  Migration Period in Poland. The workshop participants were taken on a tour to Fulltofta, Sösdala and Vätteryd in central Scania.
