Jędrzychowice
Jędrzychowice, Oława district, Lower Silesian Voivodeship (German Höckricht, Kr. Ohlau), site of discovery in 1831 during ploughing (no recorded context) of an assemblage (fig. 1.) interpreted at first as a grave inventory attributed in the past variously as female or male (from small bone fragments) at present as a ritual deposit (Totenopfer) characteristic for →Huns . The assemblage included: a Hunnic bronze cauldron, type Höckricht, with simple handles reminiscent of type Osoka; a bronze drinking cup; 2 bronze buckles; 6 gold plaques, some in →Polychrome Style (interpreted as fragments of a diadem reused as belt mounts or buckle plates; 2 gold tongue-shaped strap-ends →Tongue-shaped strap-end, repoussé, ornamented with filigree wire design; gold oval shoe buckle (?) with a rectangular plate in →Polychrome Style ; 2 silver fragments. Chronology: phase D (first half of 5th c.). The cauldron from J. with a fragment of another, from Opava Silesia (Razová nr. Horní Benešov, Lichnovo, Bruntál distr.), belongs in the group of northernmost finds of this type of object (others cluster on the Middle Danube and in the Carpathian Basin).
